Separation Anxiety

I happened to glance out the window a few minutes ago and saw a small fawn tearing around the back orchard. Seems mama had jumped the fence separating the orchard from the hay field but the baby just couldn't quite make it and couldn't find any other way to get out.

I took several photos of the fawn racing around the fenceline with mama running from one area to another trying to be there when the fawn finally found its way out.

It shouldn't have been too hard for the little one to have gotten out as the deer have almost wrecked the fence and it desperately needs repair or probably replacement. There have been so many fawns coming and going over the years that there are some pretty good-sized holes of stretched out wire in various places. This fawn finally found one of them and was off like a shot through the hay field and headed for the woods!

We're so blessed to live in places where we can see wildlife. One of the things I dislike about summer is that all the leaves fill in and I can't see the animals. No open areas like your farm.
You did a beautiful job with the drawing of Bennie. You really see the character of animals.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. We love living here and being able to see the animals is such a plus.
