Lenten Rose and Who Are You?

This is what I painted yesterday. My husband really likes it (darkish background and all! lol) but it feels as if something is not quite right to me. Of course, I usually agonize over any watercolor painting and I don't know if it's that "watercolor doubt" or if something is really off with it. If you have a comment either way, I'd like to hear it.

I'd especially like to hear from those of you who visit on a fairly regular basis but never comment. Since I got the feedjit live traffic feed, I can see where my visitors come from but not who they are. At least now I know I do get visitors, but now I'm curious about them!

So, go ahead and comment and tell me about yourself. It's like that song from the Who that's played on CSI (Las Vegas) -"Who Are You? Who, Who?" lol

I'll go put the coffee on and you just come on in and make yourself comfortable. I like having visitors and may even whip up a batch of homemade blueberry muffins while the coffee is brewing!

I know I visit and am guilty of not always commenting. I'll be better - promise! :)

As for watercolour doubts, yes we all have them. I think we have them in any medium that we use. But this rose looks lovely and there should be no doubts surrounding it. You are accomplished with watercolour.

Now..is that blueberry muffins I smell?? mmmmm

Hi Jeanette. It wasn't the people I "know" I was talking about, it's these places I see over and over but don't know anyone from there. It just sets my imagination into overtime making up stories about who they are and why they've bookmarked my obscure blog!

Yep, oatmeal/wholewheat blueberry muffins with local honey - no refined sugar - with only one concession to decadence, real butter on the side.

Hi Jan,

Love the Lenten rose. I studied it for several minutes because it looked fine to me and I couldn't see what might be bothering you. Only thing I came up with was perhaps a touch of pink here and there in the green background to bring a little more cohesiveness? I dunno!

Re: Blueberry Muffins.... yum.... and you're within easy driving distance! Trade you some Sweet Potato Bread for some blueberry muffins? :-)

Hi Jan, just finished afternoon coffee and checked in at Jeanette's blog.
Lenten Rose caught my eye because I check mine today. Lots of bright green leaves finally.
I really like your watercolor painting.

Ummmm, Teresa, sweet potato bread sounds good! I don't know exactly how far you are from me but maybe one of these days we can get together and so some plein air painting or at least talk about it over muffins and bread!

Hi Peggy & welcome! Thanks for speaking up so I can get to know you too. Pull up a chair and help yourself to a muffin.

Thanks for the kudos on my painting. Aren't the Lenten Roses so uplifting at this time of the year? We've had a colder than normal winter but their cheery blooms brighten the gloom we've had recently. It appears that ours are all the same clump or bush but the flowers are different colors at different times. I think they must change color as they age or something. We have some Confederate Roses that do that - they start off white, then turn pink, then get a sort of maroon-y red before the blooms dry up and drop off.

Hope your Lenten Roses will be blooming soon and you can do a painting of them!

Now that I've met you, I'll pop into your blog and see what you're up to. Please feel free to visit here any time. I may even have some Sweet Potato Bread the next time if Teresa and I make a trade!

This lovely Rose has cought my eye yesterday and I ment to make a comment then, but I forgot. What cought my attention immediately was the softness and beauty of the colors you put together. I just adore this one Jan!

Thank you so much, Christine. I'm glad you like the colors and all but I merely copied what I saw in the flower. It's so nice to see them blooming when it's so cold and nasty outside. They're a beautiful addition to the yard and I'm so glad we have them.
